La publicación describe por un lado una vértebra caudal anterior procedente de playa de Vega (Formación Vega) en Ribadesella, que representa el mayor resto osteológico de terópodo descrito en Europa. Sus caracteres sugieren que perteneció a un megalosáurido (megalosaurino), un grupo de terópodos entre los que se incluyen Megalosaurus y Torvosaurus. Este último ha sido identificado en niveles coetáneos en la Cuenca Lusitánica en Portugal y es el mayor predador que habitó en el Jurásico superior en Europa.
Por otro lado se describen huellas de distintos yacimientos del Jurásico Superior de la costa Asturiana (Fm. Lastres), que también se caracterizan por su enorme tamaño (hasta 82 cm de longitud). Se han diferenciado dos tipos distintos de huellas que se diferencian principalmente por su gracilidad/robustez y la mayor/menor longitud del dedo central. Las características del morfotipo robusto podrían encajar con un megalosaurido como productor de las huellas, mientras que se desconoce con exactitud qué grupo de terópodos podría ser el productor del morfotipo grácil (allosáuridos, metriacantosauridos, ceratosaurios). Sin embargo, la presencia de dos tipos de huellas distintas indica que al menos dos grupos de dinosaurios terópodos gigantes habitaron los ecosistemas asturianos durante el Jurásico Superior.
